The Tool
The Master Planner is the heart of the KIC Method. It is essential to be able to File and Forget. All tasks that are not eliminated while going through your inboxes should be logged into the Master Planner. Tthe planner should be used to log, categorize, prioritze and then work through your tasks in order. There are multiple systems to handle the Master Planner, both paper and electronic. How you use it will vary with the system you choose.
Needful Things
Paper Systems
There are a lot of traditional paper systems. DayTimer and Franklin-Covey are probably the most popular. The disadvantages of paper systems are:
There are many, many options, many of them based on Getting Things Done . A good free option is the task list included with GMail. I currently use Sunsama and Trello. Other great otions on the mac are Things and Agenda.. I have also used Opus One and OmniFocus, both of which are excellent. I've realized that for me, part of Keep it Interesting is to allow myself to change master planners every once in a while.
